Construction started this week, 25th July, on the Wendover and Great Missenden project to create a new Greenway bypassing the very busy main road A413. This project is part of the ambitious Buckinghamshire Greenway to make a largely traffic-free cycling route from Uxbridge to Buckingham, Silverstone and Brackley. This started with our own Waddesdon Greenway, now four years old, and the ambition of creating a local resource in the shadow of HS2 – one that connected communities up and down the corridor of the new railway.
This Wendover and Missenden section was initiated by Greenways who undertook all the land negotiations and worked the project up through to Planning Consent. Sustrans then took over and has piloted the work through to the start on-site and are managing all the construction. We are very pleased to see this link progress and are extremely grateful to all the partners, landowners and Council’s who have made this possible. It is hoped that the whole route will be open early next year although expect some temporary links and diversions as HS2 is constructed across the approach to Wendover.
