All being well, we aim to hold our eighth Greenways Workcamp in Shepton Mallet from Saturday 9 to Saturday16 September – working days, with Friday 8 September as our set up day and Sunday 17 September as our dismantling day.
We plan to carry out finishing work on a number of routes that will by then be surfaced – particularly the Two VIaducts route that we worked on in 2022.
For those who attended last year here are some pictures to show what progress we have made recently.
The camp will again be based in a delightful grassy bottomed ex-quarry thanks to the continuing generosity of Gavin Mayall one of our local volunteers. (Rock farm, Windsor Hill Ln, Shepton Mallet BA4 4JE)
We will be hiring portaloos and basic showers – and there are no cabins, but the quarry provides lots of level space for tents and vans and camp fires, and is quiet and very secluded.
Public transport is not great in the area, and it really needs more cycleroutes.
