New sculptures for the Willow Walk

Greenways’ refurbishment of the Willow Walk has been completed with the installation of four striking structures designed by sculptor Katy Hallett to complement the patterns of willow she planted when the route was created nearly 30 years ago, which give the path its name. https://www.katyhallett.com/willow-walk

The benches offer a place for picnics, a chance to rest in the shade or sun, and vantage points to enjoy the wonderful views of the Tor and the Mendip hills.

The Ekke timbers, reclaimed from Amsterdam Harbour, were prepared and assembled by the same fantastic team of Greenways and Sustrans volunteers who refurbished the bridge over the River Brue in opened in September 2025, and who have for years maintained the route and looked after the Willows. The route would not be as it is without them and we cannot thank them enough.

Thanks too to Dave Addicott for making the steel plates that hold the timbers together, and, as always, to our contractors Goldings for their help with installation of the benches and for their excellent refurbishment of the path route, and to Glastonbury Town Deal who have provided the funding.
