The Strawberry Line has been extended by a further 1km and was opened just before Christmas. The following is an extract from the Strawberry Line Facebook page:
“The new path connects Station Road at Westbury-sub-Mendip with Erlon Lane byway over a kilometre away. Explore the Victorian railway embankment, bask in the glorious views of the Mendip escarpment, or take shelter under the arch of a forgotten farm bridge.
This path has been made possible by kind permission of the local landowners, Mendip District Council’s political and financial commitment to the project, Greenways & Cycleroutes Ltd. for overseeing the design, engineering, and construction, and MP & KM Golding Ltd for laying the path and carrying out all associated earthworks. A huge thank you to all involved.”
