A new route in Cheddar was officially opened on Friday 14 November, as part of the Strawberry Line, and funded by Somerset Council. It has been a team effort. In April, Strawberry Line volunteers fenced off a portion of the Kings Academy playing field, so Greenways contractors could build the route. The reinforcing and shuttering for the bridge supports were built at the Greenways September workcamp in Shepton Mallet, and in October, volunteers from both teams worked together to install the new bridge, which links the Kings Fitness and Leisure centre and the school to the Draycott Park Estate. Part of the planned Somerset Circle, the route provides a much-needed greenway, avoiding the busy A371 and links to Labourham Drove and the route towards Wells.
