First path building of 2025!

On Monday, 10th of February, heavy machinery arrived to build a quality surface on a short section of the Wye Valley Greenway, our first path building of 2025. The section in question runs from the Wireworks Bridge by Tintern Abbey to the mouth of the old disused railway tunnel, a distance of some 600m. The section frequently becomes impassable after heavy rain, preventing walkers, wheelers and cyclists from accessing the Tidenham Tunnel from the Tintern end. The new path will have drainage and a limestone dust surface with a natural fall to alleviate that problem.

The work will take approximately three weeks and, as always, will be supported by local volunteers of the WVG. Anyone else wishing to provide support, please do contact that group.
