Greenways ninth workcamp a triumph

Greenways ninth workcamp took place from 7 to 14 September in Shepton Mallet, based for a third year at Rock Farm, courtesy of Gavin Mayall. Our wonderful caterers, Claire and Chris, rose to the challenge of feeding and watering 77 people working a total of 340 days, compared with 200 last year. And John Grimshaw presided over us all, as ever.

See our Shepton Mallet page for more details.

Work focussed on building the abutments and preparing gabions for the approach ramps for the planned new bridge over the B3136, which will complete the link between Collett Park and the Council offices all the way to the recreation ground and Ridge Road. The bridge will be installed in October. Gabions were added at Queens Park to enable the link path to be completed.

And at the Cemetery we made the first steps towards a route up from the town centre to Bath Road viaduct, by creating a pergola covered ramp that leads to the community woodland. Newly planted and with five comfortable benches the pergola provides a fitting backdrop to the cemetery.
